Refurbishment Projects
Chessington Road
The project is a typical example of a new rear extension. Within KPT design we have successfully designed numerous similar projects. For this job special consideration was given to achieving maximum head height and cranked beams were introduced to have vaulted ceiling lines. Stability of the refurbished property is always important and new steel frames were designed to withstand lateral loads.
Mount Road
A traditional loft conversion in South West, London. With limited head height, we were pushed to design the new floor plate at loft level as thin as possible. The clean design added character to the existing property.
Pancake Lane
This is an interesting and challenging project, which we successfully delivered despite the continuous “surprises” from the existing building. We found that the original house was underpinned/piled due to ground movement and heave. To ensure that the amended structural load paths can settle in a similar manner to the existing a new mini piling solution was proposed. The internal structure was designed to provide a large open living space for the client. KPT Design also assisted with the design for the internal feature staircase.
Crofton Road
New rear extension where the architectural design led to exposed steel beams and columns at Ground Floor level. The new structural members and connections were designed with that in mind and the final look is pleasing for any structural engineer.
