New Build Projects
Rural Way
Demolition of existing bungalow and construction of two semi-detached properties. The houses were built in a traditional way using a mixture of load-bearing masonry and steel members. Stability frames were introduced for more flexible internal planning. KPT Design also provided the drainage for the scheme and dealt with the Environment Agency to achieve a cost-effective solution.
The Fairway
A typical project that can be seen around London. The “end of terrace” house was refurbished throughout. Next, to it, a new single occupancy development was introduced. During the design, consideration was given to the sequencing of the construction and the capacity of the existing party wall.
Manor Road North
KPT Design provided a design for two number new build single dwellings in Surrey. An account was taken of the site conditions and the large trees near one of the properties. With cost and programme in mind, piling foundations were only introduced to the area of the sub-structure close to the tree with the rest of the properties being supported on traditional strip foundations. Movement joints were introduced to allow for differential settlement of the different foundation solutions.
